The Disruptive Technology Of Bitcoin

Silicon Valley is known for the idea of disruptive technology. With companies like Apple, Palantir, Meta and thousands of other companies competing all in the same geological region, there is no technology that has disrupted markets and has redefined the meaning of innovation like cryptocurrency. In an article posted by JCCS News, CEO of Microstrategy Michael Saylor states that "Bitcoin is the most disruptive technology of our lifetime."
The article is arguing how with the internet as the digitization of information, what is stopping bitcoin and thousands of other cryptocurrencies from being the digitization of currency?

With the invention of cryptocurrency, Forbes also posted an article that directly relates to how much of a disruption that cryptocurrencies have placed on the world of technology. Forbes stated that cryptocurrency markets could see a flow of wealth enter the market of up to $100 trillion dollars.

Questions:
Do you find cryptocurrency to be a disruptive technology? What current knowledge do you have about cryptocurrency?
Do you think cryptocurrency is here to stay? Do you think it will eventually become the standard form of currency around the world in our lifetime or in the future?
Hi Tyler,
ReplyDeleteGreat post.
To answer your first question, I think cryptocurrency is a disruptive technology, especially today, as there are numerous kinds of cryptocurrency available today and more just keep being created as the world becomes so technologically advanced, so does money. My current understanding of crypto is rather vast and I am not that knowledgeable on it but I would like to learn more as it does seem very interesting and modern within society today. I think it depends on the individuals using crypto and how they choose to use it and do with it that can either negatively or positively impact crypto in general. To answer your second question, I do think that crypto is here to stay as so many more cryptocurrencies are being invented and even celebrities have begun to create their own in hopes of it retaining value and becoming popular. I am not sure if it would become the standard form of currency around the world within our lifetime per say but I do believe it will become even more popular with more and more stores and industries accepting crypto and even creating their own. I do however think in the far future (past our lifetimes) that it would ideally become the standard form of currency as the world would continue to advance technologically and economically.
